The Backstage Loft is a fabulous contemporary chalet with five en-suite bedrooms, sleeping 10 guests. The furniture and interior installations were developed and produced in the studio of acclaimed interior designer Heinz Julen in his Zermatt studio.
Located in the heart of Zermatt, it enjoys an enviable position just a short stroll from the Klein Matterhorn lift station and from the village centre. Boasting incredible views of the Matterhorn, the chalet is nestled on the edge of the river, giving beautiful views from the huge picture windows in the chalet.
The heart of the chalet is the large, bright and airy open plan kitchen, living and dining area located on the entrance floor of the main chalet. Typical to Heinz Julen’s style, this sophisticated space features a unique architectural style, enhanced by the open wood fire, floor to ceiling windows and unusual features such as the dining table which can be winched to the ceiling to give space for pre-dinner drinks and canapes, or dancing the night away.
Located just to the side of the living room, the impressive hot tub is encased in glass, offering stunning back-drops and views of the iconic Matterhorn. At the touch of a button the glass wall will swing open, transforming the indoor hot tub into an outdoor one.
One twin/double bedroom is located on the main floor and accessed from the main hallway; this opens onto a wrap-around balcony for taking in the surroundings and crisp mountain air. Stairs also lead upwards to two further bedrooms located on the top floor of the chalet. Down the stairs is a further bedroom with a balcony and a separate entrance to the lower street level, and the hammam and sauna are also on this floor.
The main master bedroom is located in an authentic 700 year old chalet that adjoins the main building. Careful design has showcased the original wooden beams, and the bedroom enjoys direct access to the terrace and hot tub area.
On the lower floor of the chalet, guests can enjoy the latest blockbusters in the chalet’s dedicated TV room; this area also has a kitchenette, shower room and access to the gym with views across the river.
This property is a unique masterpiece, fusing as it does the historic and traditional wooden architecture of the 700 year old adjoining chalet with the flair of the main chalet.
